I’ve been procrastinating on getting started with this because I think it is just going to be so incredibly difficult to blog everything that happened on my trip.
I was gone for four weeks in almost the complete opposite timezone from my home, in three different countries and in over six different cities.
So many people are telling me it was “the trip of a lifetime” and they “can’t imagine how I did it” and that is so surreal to me.
I was only on vacation for two weeks in South Korea. The rest was work-time. I know this sounds really first-worldy, but, travel is not that hard.
Just do it. Just go.
Why is it so scary?
Since I was traveling by myself, I met SO many other travelers, many of whom were traveling solo for MONTHS. With NO PLANS. Just seeing the world. And they do it all the time. Annually, even.
It was truly eye opening to see how the rest of the world views vacations and travel – so significantly different from those of us in the US.
I met gap year individuals taking gaps from EVERYTHING. Between advanced degrees, highschool and college, jobs, just a sabbatical gap year…
There’s just something about American culture that represses us from feeling free to travel.
Maybe it’s the same problem we have with nudity and sex.
Oh, trust me, we’ll get to that when I get to reviewing Korea. I promise we will.
Anyhow, I basically just wanted to get myself started writing here so I would encourage more event postings. I *think* I have all the photo highlights selected, so I’ll try and use the photos as a guide to getting through some
stories for you all. I have to write hotel reviews too. UGH. I forgot about that until just now. Whomp whomp. And I have to check in on my air mile distributions because one of my partner flights didn’t come through. On that
note, I’ll be out but I’ll leave you with this.
I officially have United Premier Status… Silver Member Status… whatup! Haha.
Keep being an inspiration Dara. You have an admirer in this guy.
