I’ll preface this with the fact that I am in NO WAY an extreme couponer. I just like getting money back when I do things, and since my Sorority Sister had introduced me to Ebates, I’ve poked around for a few other ways to get cash back for things I already do.
Once of the things I realized would be easy was a couponing app for groceries on my phone. I checked out what was around and worked in my area a few months ago, and I found Ibotta. Now, mind you, I could do this a lot more effectively if I planned my shopping around the rebates. But as I mentioned… Not. An. Extreme. Couponer. I just use the app to get cash back on things that I already need or buy.
Basically the app works like this:
2. Pick which store you’re shopping in.
3. Check which rebates there currently available.
Now, you can do steps 1-3 before OR after you shop. I do them after, so I’m not encouraged to buy extra things that I don’t want or need. Obviously there are other strategies here… haha!
4. Complete “activity” on each rebate. This could be reading a fact or watching a 10 second video.
5. Scan barcode to confirm that you have the correct product.
6. Select all rebates for the receipt you’re redeeming on.
7. Take a picture of the receipt.
8. Submit receipt.
9. Wait for confirmation of receipt verification.
This process typically takes me all of 5 minutes and on average I would say I redeem about 3 dollars of rebates per receipt, and I usually buy about $60 of groceries at a time. What I really like about Ibotta is that they recently added fresh produce rebates, and I buy a LOT of produce so that’s pretty awesome in my opinion. They’re small rebates, usually about $.20, but hey, I’ll take that back for my two green peppers per week!
The only annoying thing about Ibotta is that you have to collect $10 in rebates in order to cash out, but you can actually cash out directly to paypal, which is pretty awesome. I recently did my first cashout, and it was incredibly easy! I actually took a quick screenshot of what my email looked like after the cashout, because I was so excited to get my first payout. Cheesy, I know, but I’ve gotta work with what I’ve got, right?
Anyway, overall I HIGHLY suggest Ibotta! If you have any questions about my experience, please feel free to ask! I’m considering doing a whole walkthrough on the cashout process, so if you’d like to read that, let me know! Oh! And if you decide to register, please use the link from my blog or the referral code “robilms” and I’ll get an extra bonus. Thank you and enjoy!
Love this Dara! Thanks so much!
