Crossfit On-Ramp Testing!
Crossfit

Before I left for Israel… i.e. literally the MORNING before I left, I scheduled my On-Ramp testing at Crossfit. I wanted to be sure I got the test in prior to my trip because I was afraid that I would forget all the specific terms and pointers, and now having returned, I realize I was SO right.

So on the morning of the test I popped out of bed at the ripe hour of 6 to get dressed for the test, pack work clothes, and do some last minute prep before heading to the Box.

When I got there, I was pretty much as intimidated as I thought I would be. Our On-Ramp testing is with the head trainer at the Box and it’s a 1-1 test where you have to demonstrate a series of movements, explain the common faults, and give the coaching instructions. I was a few minutes early so I grabbed a PVC and my phone and went over the prep list with movements until the coach called me over.

*cue dramatic music*

The first few movements were the ones I was less confident in, and somehow I apparently pulled them off incredibly well. Go figure. Then we move into the movements that I was more fluent in… or so I thought. Some of the notes the coach gave me were things I had never been taught, so I was pretty sure I was destined to fail the test. After about 45 excruciating minutes, I was finally done with the test.

What happened?

Well, I passed! The coach said that even though my movements weren’t perfect, I’m “very fit” (yay!) and I’m “extremely coachable” (double yay!) so even though I have a “terrible memory” (whoops), I passed because every time he corrected me, he only had to do it once and I remembered the note for the rest of the test.

So, there you have it! I passed my On-Ramp test, finally!

**Since I’ve been back from Israel I’ve been sick so I haven’t gone to my first WOD, but I’m planning to go Saturday morning if I’m feeling better. One of my Birthright girls does Crossfit up in Short Hills, so I have to do a WOD down here so I can get up the courage to go visit her at her Box!**
